Time to reflect on my teaching....

After a number of day of rambling through new ideas, theories and strategies, it is time  to actually sit down and reflect on how to improve  the learning that takes place in my lessons. it is time to rethink the way I deliver my lessons. It is time  to think about designing lessons that get the best out of my students. It is time to come up with a plan.....about planning.

On Monday this week, I had to fill in an action plan for further development as a result of my grading activity. I must say the results were not what I had expected. I realised that there are so many things that I need to work on in order to make my teaching better. I did put down few things in the PDR and identified areas I need to improve  and how I will go on to overcome these.

One thing that I really need to work on is encouraging group discussion during my lessons. fostering small group discussion in my lesson is my target!!...

How hard can it be?...

Diary of w/c 6th of Jan-10th of Jan

I have been so busy that I haven't even have enough time to keep my blog up to date. Last week was my first week back at college. Too much is going on at the  moment, but I am always up for the challenge!

Few things have happened this past week., and I must say  I have learnt a lot. The following are some of the things that I have found very interesting and very useful too:

  • Positive correction behaviour management approach by Carl Rogers
  • Different teaching strategies
  • Formative assessment, the video below shows one of my favourite theorists on assessment, Dylan William

Formative Assessment and feedback: Dylan William!

Christmas has come and gone....time flies

I cant' believe that my Christmas break is already over! I have very busy these past two week  with all the Christmassy activities, college work and lesson planning , that I didn't even get a chance to update my blog.

Next week I go back to college. I have lots to do before then. There is my behaviour management presentation to prepare, two lessons and one assignment to complete.

Anyway I have enjoyed my short break and I am looking forward to going back into my usual routine...

Good luck :)
